Violin Teacher
Teacher Silke, as she is fondly called by her students from the University of the Philippines, College of Music and Immaculate Conception Academy, graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with a violin and piano concentration. She has been working with children for 15+ years.
Prior to moving to the U.S., Teacher Silke worked with various music groups in the Philippines such as: The San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra, FILharmoniKA, ABSCBN Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.
Aside from orchestra work, she, along with her college friends formed their own rock quartet: The Manila String Machine which plays music from Bach to Frank Sinatra to Taylor Swift to Bruno Mars to Metallica.
Her work with various orchestras and The Manila String Machine has allowed her to work with both Philippine local artists such as National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, Gerard Salonga, Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, Bamboo; and international artists such as Alain Boublil, Claude Michel Schoenberg, David Benoit, Andrea Bocceli, Josh Groban, Idina Menzel, Justin Jesso, Kygo, Cecille Licad, Lisa Macuja-Elizalde, Lea Salonga and Simon Bowman.
When she is not rocking it out, she also volunteers her music to her church group Musica Chiesa, which she co-founded in 2006 under the Jesuit Music Ministry, Philippines. They have won two Awit Awards for Best Christmas Recording in 2018, and Best Instrumental Performance in 2020.
Her musical talent can be heard on various recordings (available on digital platforms) of her different music groups: The San Miguel Philharmonic Orchestra, ABSCBN Philharmonic Orchestra and Musica Chiesa; in the films Ignacio de Loyola (2016) and Ang Larawan (2017); and her own compositions and string quartet arrangements under the artist name: Silke Hipolito.
